PLEASANT BAY
This SUP excursion starts at Jacknife Beach, adjacent to the Eastward Ho country club. Protected from the Atlantic Ocean by Nauset Beach, Pleasant Bay is typically very calm and ideal for paddleboarding. This popular scenic bay cruise is perfect for the beginner or intermediate paddlers. Watch for striped bass, shorebirds and occasional seals, peer into shallow waters for horseshoe crabs and sand dollars, navigate along the shoreline, and relax! Optional paddle to the Wequasset Inn and Resort for lunch.
OUTER BEACH SEAL TOUR & SURF EXCURSION
For this more adventurous one-way trip we launch at Claflin Landing (next to Chatham Bars Inn) or Lighthouse Beach. Groups paddle a small distance across beautiful Chatham Harbor waterways, enjoying scenery such as quaint commercial fishing vessels, oceanfront estates, seals and other wildlife. We land on the stunningly beautiful and rapidly evolving “North Beach” section of Nauset Beach and/or Tern Island, sightsee or possibly surf on the ocean side (conditions permitting). Timed with the incoming tide, we paddle with the strong current to the town landing at Strong Island or Crowes pond and are picked up by waiting Adventure Chatham vehicles.
This adventurous excursion may encounter strong currents and boat traffic. Recommended for more comfortable paddlers.
STAGE HARBOR TRAVERSE
This excursion takes place in beautiful Stage Harbor. One of the most scenic harbors on Cape Cod, it is populated by a wide assortment of sailboats, motor yachts, and fishing vessels. This relaxing adventure enables paddlers to sightsee as we work our way out to a nearby section of Monomoy Island beach. After a rest and swim in the warm, shallow water the group returns to the inner harbor. Watch for seals, fish, and horseshoe crabs!
